Nutmeg

Nutmeg, a prized spice from Sri Lanka, is renowned for its rich aroma and warm, slightly sweet flavor. Grown primarily in the tropical climate of Sri Lanka's central and southern regions, nutmeg comes from the seed of the Myristica fragrans tree. Both nutmeg and its byproduct, mace, are highly valued in culinary and medicinal applications. Sri Lankan nutmeg is known for its superior oil content and robust taste, making it a key ingredient in local and international cuisines. Additionally, it holds significance in Ayurvedic medicine, where it is used for its digestive and anti-inflammatory properties. The spice contributes significantly to Sri Lanka’s spice exports.
