Siyanco Holiday Resort stands on a 1-acre property on 1st Canal Road in the historical city of Polonnaruwa, close to the Parakrama Samudra lake, with the ruins of the ancient city less than a kilometre away. Polonnaruwa Railway Station on the Colombo - Batticaloa line is 3.9 km from the resort, and Angammedilla National Park is 4.4 km away.
The resort is 149 km as the crow flies from Bandaranaike International Airport at Katunayake; by road the drive is about 197 km and usually takes 4 to 4.5 hours, depending on traffic and the weather. Book the Colombo (CMB) Airport transfer to Siyanco Holiday Resort.
The resort has 16 fully air-conditioned guestrooms with modern furniture, and non air-conditioned rooms can be provided on request. Rooms are available as single, double, twin and triple, with non-smoking rooms, and every room has an attached bathroom with hot and cold showers.
The restaurant seats 100 guests and serves local and international cuisine as buffets, à la carte and set menus, and guests can also enjoy drinks on the rooftop. There is a fully air-conditioned banquet hall seating 300, conference facilities can be arranged, and room service runs from 5.30 to 10.00 pm. A swimming pool is in the final stages of construction, and car and bicycle hire can be arranged on request.
Polonnaruwa was a thriving ancient kingdom and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site: its sights include the Vatadage, a circular temple, Gal Vihara with its four images of the Buddha carved into rock, the 55 ft Lankatilaka, the Royal Palace and the statue of King Parakramabahu, along with the Parakrama Samudra, Giritale and Minneriya tanks. The resort also organises safari trips to the surrounding national parks, including Angammedilla, Minneriya, Kaudulla, Maduru Oya and Wasgamuwa.
