Nimsara Villa is a villa at Kommala, just inland from the coast between Bentota and Aluthgama. It sits away from the hotel strip along the beach road, yet within a few kilometres of the railway stations, the river and the beaches that bring most travellers to this part of the south-west coast.

Aluthgama railway station is about 1.7 km away and Bentota railway station about 2.3 km, both on the coastal line between Colombo and Galle, so trains along the coast are easy to reach. The centres of Aluthgama and Bentota are around 3 km away, and Bentota Beach is roughly 2.4 km from the villa as the crow flies.
The drive from Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) takes around 2 hours, heading south around Colombo and on down to the Bentota area, depending on traffic. With Aluthgama and Bentota stations both within about 2.5 km, the coastal railway is a practical way to reach Colombo, Galle and the beach towns in between. Bentota River's water aerodrome, used by seaplane and air-taxi services, is about 2.4 km away. Bentota is known for its long beach and for the Bentota River, where boat rides run up through the mangroves and water sports such as jet skiing and windsurfing are on offer near the river mouth. Further along the coast are the turtle hatcheries of Kosgoda, the Madu River with its mangrove islands, the mask makers of Ambalangoda and Galle Fort, an easy day trip.
