Laluna Ayurveda Resort is a small Ayurveda hotel on the Bentota River at Kaluwamodara in Aluthgama, set among gardens beside the water. Its focus is traditional Sri Lankan treatment: every stay can begin with a consultation with the resort's Ayurveda doctor, and the hotel also runs its own water-sports centre on the river.
The resort stands at No. 06, Kaluwamodara, on the Aluthgama bank of the Bentota River, on the south-west coast of Sri Lanka. Aluthgama railway station is under 1 km away, Bentota station is about 1.6 km away, and the beaches of Bentota are a short drive across the river. Beruwala lies about 4.5 km to the north.
Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) is about 105 km from the resort by road, and the drive around Colombo and down the Southern Expressway usually takes 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on traffic. The easiest way to arrive after a long flight is a private transfer booked in advance: Lakpura can arrange an English-speaking driver to meet you in the arrivals hall and take you straight to the resort in an air-conditioned car, van or coach sized for your group, and the same service works in reverse for your departure flight.
The hotel lists Standard Rooms, Deluxe Double Rooms and Deluxe Family Rooms, along with Superior Single Rooms, Superior Deluxe Double Rooms and Superior Deluxe Family Rooms. The double and single rooms measure 28 m² and the family rooms 38 m². Rooms are air-conditioned, with parquet floors, a desk and seating area, a private shower room and a smart TV, and some look out over the water.
Guests are first examined by the Ayurveda doctor, then given a welcome treatment of a foot oil bath and foot massage. The treatment menu includes Shirodhara, in which warm liquid is poured gently over the forehead, Sarwangadhara, a whole-body oil treatment, Shiroabyanga head therapy, Shareera Abhyanga oil massage, Pinddasweda thermo massage, Nasya nasal cleansing, herbal scrubs and acupuncture. Consultations are held every day from 9 am to 5.30 pm.
The resort's restaurant specialises in fresh seafood, with crab, prawn and fish dishes, alongside traditional Sri Lankan curries, Italian and other Western dishes, and meals can also be taken in your room. There is also an outdoor swimming pool. From the river, the water-sports centre offers jet skiing, banana and tube rides, kayaking, snorkelling and diving, and the turtle hatcheries of Kosgoda are a short drive south along the coast. Lakpura can arrange private transfers and day tours from the resort.
