Lifetone Banana Blossom Tea is a herbal infusion made from a single ingredient: powdered banana blossom granules, drawn from the large, layered inflorescence of the banana plant, which grows across South and South-East Asia. It contains no Camellia sinensis, so it brews without caffeine in the way a conventional tea would. Each 40g pack holds 20 sachets of 2 grams apiece, sealed in a kraft paper bag with a fold-over top.
The banana blossom — sometimes called the banana flower or banana heart — is the deep-coloured, teardrop-shaped bloom that forms at the tip of a banana bunch, its bracts peeling back to reveal rows of small flowers within. Possible Green (Pvt) Ltd, the manufacturer based in Navitapitiya, Sri Lanka, processes the blossom into a fine granule and presses it into sachet form under the Lifetone brand. The company holds ISO 22000:2005 food safety management certification (Certificate No. 190325049402, accredited by UAF), and the product is registered under the Department of Ayurveda, Sri Lanka (Possible Green Private Limited, Registration Certificate No. 311).
Brewing is straightforward. Pour freshly boiled water over one sachet, leave it to infuse for at least two minutes, then give the bag a few stirs and a gentle squeeze before lifting it out. The squeeze draws the full essence and flavour from the granules. The packaging lists carbohydrates, protein, fat and dietary fibre among the product's nutrients, alongside the minerals calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, phosphorus and potassium, and vitamins A, C and E.
Once the pack has been opened, store the remaining sachets in an airtight container to preserve the dried granules. The packaging carries a general caution: pregnant or lactating mothers, children, those currently taking medication, and anyone preparing for surgery should speak with a doctor before use. The product is available as a single pack of 20 sachets or in multiples of two, three or five packs for those who want a longer supply to hand.
