Royal Gold Extra Large Leaf from Akbar is an 80 g pack of loose Ceylon black tea made from unusually large, whole leaves, selected from high-grown gardens and packed in Sri Lanka.
Big leaf releases its flavour slowly, so the cup is smooth and well balanced, with little bitterness. As the leaves unfurl in the pot they give a clear, golden-amber liquor with a rich aroma, gentle strength and a light natural sweetness.
It is a tea for a slower pot in the afternoon, or for serving to guests, and the 80 g size is an easy way to try it.

How to brew
- One to one and a half teaspoons of leaf per cup; large leaf is bulky, so use a little more by volume.
- Pour on water at 95 to 100 C.
- Brew for 4 to 5 minutes so the leaves can open fully, then strain.
- Best plain, or with a little milk if you prefer.
