About this experience
Step aboard a local fisherman's wooden boat and cast your line into the Parakrama Samudra — one of Sri Lanka's largest ancient reservoirs, stretching across the outskirts of Polonnaruwa. Your guide hands you a traditional fishing pole, the same kind locals have used for generations, and shows you the best spots to reel in a freshwater catch. The session runs for two hours on the open water, with sweeping views of the lake and the surrounding ancient landscape.
This is a private activity, so it's just you and your fisherman — no crowds, no shared boat. Traditional fishing equipment is provided, and a drink is included to keep you comfortable on the water: choose from tea, coffee, or a cold beer. Participants must be aged 15 or above. Note that hotel transfers and food are not included, so arrange your own transport to the lake before the session begins.
