Maduru Oya National Park Private Safari

Board a private 4x4 jeep — a Toyota or Mitsubishi carrying up to six passengers — and spend three hours tracking wildlife through Maduru Oya National Park, 314 kilometres from Colombo in Sri Lanka's dry zone. Your experienced driver doubles as your tracker, guiding you across the park's varied habitats in search of Asian elephants, leopards, sloth bears, wild buffalo, spotted deer, and three primate species including the rare slender loris. Over 100 bird species live here too, among them the lesser adjutant, painted stork, and Sri Lanka jungle fowl. Each person receives a one-litre bottle of water for the ride.

Note that park entrance fees are paid separately in cash on the day, and hotel transfers are not included if your accommodation is more than 5 kilometres from the park entrance gate. Children aged five and above are welcome. Lakpura organises the jeep and tracker; everything else — food, drinks, and gratuities — is at your own expense.
