About this experience
Maduru Oya National Park spreads across Sri Lanka's dry zone in a wide mosaic of scrub forest, open grassland, and reservoir margins. Your private jeep works through all of it — open plains, dense canopy corridors, and waterside clearings where elephants, leopards, sloth bears, wild buffalo, and wild boar roam. Sambar, spotted deer, and barking deer graze the margins, while Toque Macaques and Purple-faced Leaf Monkeys move through the canopy overhead. The park also shelters more than 100 bird species, among them the Lesser Adjutant, Woolly-necked Stork, Painted Stork, Openbill, Racket-tailed Drongo, Yellow-fronted Barbet, Sri Lanka Junglefowl, and Spurfowl. Your driver is also your tracker — reading fresh signs, scanning the terrain, and cutting the engine the moment the bush demands silence.
Your booking reserves the entire jeep exclusively for your party of one to six guests across a three-hour safari, with one litre of water per person included. At checkout you choose your configuration: book the jeep only and pay park entrance fees in cash at the gate, or add entrance tickets through Lakpura so everything is arranged before you arrive. On top of either option you may add a guide — a practical choice if you want species identifications and animal behaviour explained as you go. Gratuities, food, and drinks are not included.
