Accepted Answer

Around 14 trains call at Galoya Junction on a typical operating day. The exact number can vary by day of the week, as some services run on selected days only. Always verify the current timetable with Sri Lanka Railways or by calling the station directly on 027-3279375.

Question 3

How far is Galoya Junction from Polonnaruwa?

Accepted Answer

Galoya Junction lies in the Polonnaruwa District, east of Polonnaruwa town. The two points are connected by both rail and road, though exact distances can vary by route. Travellers typically find the road journey quicker for onward connections to Polonnaruwa's archaeological sites.

Question 4

Can I visit Gal Oya National Park from Galoya Junction Station?

Accepted Answer

What is the best way to travel from Colombo to Galoya Junction by train?

Accepted Answer

From Colombo Fort or Maradana, board a northbound service to Maho, then continue on a Batticaloa Line train eastward to Galoya Junction. It offers an authentic, off-the-beaten-track rail experience with little tourist infrastructure.
