Das Anawilundawa-Heiligtum liegt zwischen Chilaw und Puttalam in der Nordwestprovinz Sri Lankas, eingekeilt zwischen der Küste und der Eisenbahnlinie Chilaw–Puttalam. Seine seltene Position neben drei unterschiedlichen Ökosystemen – offene Küste, Mangrovenwälder und Süßwasserbecken – verleiht ihm den Status eines RAMSAR-Feuchtgebiets, eines von nur sechs im Land. Diese ökologische Vielfalt zieht Hunderte von Vogelarten an und macht es zu einem der lohnenswertesten Vogelbeobachtungsziele auf der Insel.
Lakpura holt Sie von Colombo in einem privaten, klimatisierten Fahrzeug ab und bringt Sie direkt zum Heiligtum mit einem sachkundigen Guide, der jede Art benennt, das Nistverhalten erklärt und Ihr Fernglas zum richtigen Zeitpunkt richtet.
