Question 3

What makes Hanguranketha a Raja Maha Viharaya?

Accepted Answer

Question 5

Can I combine Hanguranketha with a visit to Horton Plains?

A combined visit is possible but requires an early start, as Horton Plains is best experienced in the morning before cloud cover builds. It is advisable to arrange a private vehicle and plan the route in advance. The drive between the two sites passes through attractive highland scenery.

Question 6

What are Poya days and should I visit on one?

Question 7

Is there public transport to Hanguranketha from Kandy?

Accepted Answer

Bus services do run between Kandy and Hanguranketha, though schedules can be infrequent and journey times vary. Travellers who prefer greater flexibility and comfort typically hire a private vehicle or driver, which also allows stops at other sites along the route.
