Ahmad
Ahmad Tea is a family tea company from England. Rahim Afshar and his brothers founded it in 1986 in Southampton, in a small office above the family's tea shop, and named it after their father; its first loose tea went on sale the following year. Today the maker says more than 30 million cups of Ahmad Tea are drunk every day, in over 80 countries. Sri Lanka has been part of the story since 1996, when the company opened its Colombo office: a team of about thirty that tastes some 12,000 samples a week to buy at the Colombo tea auction and oversees the packing factories on the island.
The Sri Lankan range starts with loose Ceylon tea: Ceylon OPA, Ceylon Long Leaf, Ceylon FBOPF, Top Ceylon BOPF, four regional Ceylon teas in one box, the bergamot-scented Special Blend and the best-selling Cardamom Tea. For special occasions there are tea caddies of Silver Tips, Golden Tips and gunpowder green tea.
In foil-wrapped tea bags you will find the classic black teas, from English Breakfast to Earl Grey, the flavoured black teas Cinnamon Haze, Vanilla Tranquility, Strawberry Sensation and Peach & Passion Fruit, and fruit and herb infusions such as Rooibos & Cinnamon, Camomile & Lemongrass and Rosehip, Hibiscus & Cherry.
Ahmad Tea is best known for its gift sets: the Afternoon Tea Collection, the Tea Master's Selection, the London-themed Timeless Collection caddies, the Tea Bouquet caddies and the seasonal Winter Wonder range. Made for Sri Lanka itself is the Travellers' Tea Collection, four boxes of wrapped tea bags dedicated to Ella, Galle, Kandy and Sigiriya, a souvenir of the island in a box of tea. We ship the whole range worldwide from Sri Lanka.
