Ahmad Tea Earl Grey is a classic English-style black tea with an elegant, sophisticated character, and it is among the teas Ahmad Tea's customers rate most highly. The Tea Masters blend teas from well-known tea regions of Sri Lanka for a lively, brisk flavour, then add a touch of citrus from the company's own bergamot flavouring. The loose leaf version uses larger leaves, which give a more refined cup.
The tea takes its name from Charles Grey, British Prime Minister in the 19th century. The story goes that he was given a bergamot-flavoured tea from China and liked it so much that he asked British tea merchants to recreate it. It has stayed a favourite around the world ever since, and its bold but elegant flavour suits a cup at any point in the day.
