Weligama Bay Resort — A Coastal Retreat in Southern Sri Lanka

Weligama Bay Resort occupies a stretch of Sri Lanka's southern coastline, nestled in the middle of Weligama Bay between the towns of Matara and Galle, approximately 143 km from Colombo. The location is considered a pure hideaway — a 5 km arc of beach framed by palm groves, reachable by the Colombo–Galle–Matara motorway, the Southern railway line, or regular intercity and local bus services.

The resort is designed to suit individuals and small groups alike, combining elegant architecture with a relaxed tropical atmosphere. Its accommodation, dining, wellness, and outdoor facilities are spread across a compact beachside property that makes the bay a constant presence throughout a stay.

Accommodation

Guests can choose from a thoughtfully varied range of accommodation types. The 10 superior rooms occupy the first floor of the main building, each with its own terrace and seating area overlooking Weligama Bay. Two connected bungalows sit within the garden, each containing two individual rooms and their own terrace. For those who prefer to be closer to the water, 6 garden villas are positioned near the beachside and the swimming pool.

At the top of the range are the 2 junior suites and 2 royal suites, both located on the second floor of the main building and accessible by elevator. Each suite features a large terrace with dedicated seating and relaxing areas, along with beautiful views across the bay.

Every room and suite throughout the resort is equipped with king-sized beds, individually split remote-controlled air-conditioning, a ceiling fan, an electronic safe, an LCD flat-panel HDTV, a CD/MP3/DVD player, satellite channels, high-speed internet access, a minibar with freezer, a telephone, and European-style electric plugs. Bathrooms come with a shower, hair dryer, shampoo, and shower gel.

Dining

The resort's restaurant offers two distinct settings: an air-conditioned indoor dining area and an open-air terrace complete with a cocktail bar. Together they provide a range of cuisine and beverages suited to both leisurely breakfasts and relaxed evening meals with a view of the bay.

The Bawana Spa is the resort's dedicated space for relaxation, offering massages in a calm, unhurried environment. Outdoors, guests have access to a swimming pool and a jacuzzi, making it easy to spend the day alternating between the bay, the pool, and the spa.
