Villa Kusum — A Private Beach Villa in Dodanduwa

Tucked away in the quiet coastal village of Patuwatha, Dodanduwa, Villa Kusum is a private residence that opens onto a calm and beautiful beach on Sri Lanka's Southern coast. With Hikkaduwa just 5 km away and the historic city of Galle approximately 20 km distant, the villa occupies a setting that balances peaceful seclusion with easy access to some of the south's most celebrated destinations. Colombo lies around 100 km away, making the drive from the capital roughly two and a half hours.

Designed throughout with antique furniture inspired by Sri Lanka's colonial heritage, Villa Kusum carries a distinct sense of character and place. Its small scale — just two suites and two rooms — means guests receive attentive, personalised service from a friendly resident staff.

Accommodation

All four accommodation units are fitted with hot and cold water, complete bathrooms, air-conditioning, and royal beds with superior mattresses. The two suites, both on the first floor, are more spacious than the rooms and each enjoys a balcony with a sea view. The Ceylon Suite features a large combined living and bedroom alongside a super-luxury bathroom equipped with a jacuzzi, a bath, and a separate shower. The Colonial Suite offers a living and bedroom with a shower bathroom. The Dutch Room is also on the first floor, positioned at the front of the villa, while the Penthouse Room occupies the second floor and is considered particularly well-suited to longer stays.

Dining

Fine dining is a particular strength of Villa Kusum. The à la carte menu spans western cooking, oriental and Japanese cuisine, and fresh seafood dishes featuring fish, lobster, prawns, and calamari. Lunch typically comprises fresh salads, soups, and a main course with dessert, while dinner is served as a four-course fine dining experience. Tea and coffee accompanied by cake and cookies are offered as complimentary treats, and champagne and red wine can be arranged on request. Special beach dinners can also be organised, subject to arrangement and conditions.

Facilities

The outdoor swimming pool, which also incorporates a jacuzzi, sits within the garden close to the beach. Sun beds are on hand for a leisurely day in the open air, and beach towels are available whenever guests require them.
