Talalla Retreat occupies a rare position on Sri Lanka's southern coast — just metres from Talalla Beach, a quiet crescent cove of glassy turquoise water and spotless golden sand known for its mesmerising sunrises. Accommodation

Eight two-storey villas are set amid vast emerald grounds. Each villa contains four spacious bedrooms, all designed with a distinct tropical character — bright and airy, with generous open sky-marble bathrooms and a private balcony or patio overlooking lush garden vistas. Natural sea breezes and ceiling fans keep rooms cool, removing the need for air conditioning entirely. In keeping with the retreat's philosophy of calm, no in-room televisions or entertainment centres are provided; the tranquil sights and sounds of the surrounding natural environment take their place. Accommodation is immaculately serviced each day, and amenities such as laundry and ironing are available on request.

Facilities

The facilities at Talalla are deliberately oriented toward rest and restoration. The spring water swimming pool sits at the heart of the lush gardens, measuring 20 metres long and 9 metres wide — well suited to lap swimmers and equally inviting for a slow, unhurried float. It sits conveniently close to the restaurant for poolside cravings. A spa and beauty treatment space are also on site, and the retreat is home to one of Asia's largest yoga spaces, a custom-built pavilion open to cooling sea breezes that overlooks the gardens and pool.

Wireless broadband is available in the restaurant, mobile telephone reception is described as good, and fax and telephone facilities can be found in the office — a considered balance between staying connected when necessary and genuinely switching off.

Yoga and Group Retreats

The retreat is designed to accommodate facilitated group retreats of up to 50 participants. Areas of focus include yoga, Tai Chi, martial arts, detox, dance, and celebrations, among others. The pavilion has been purpose-built for retreats, intensives, and workshops. Full accommodation and meals are provided for groups, and assistance with internal transfer arrangements is available. Pricing for group bookings of this nature is arranged individually.

Surfing

During the surfing season, a daily surf check is carried out to locate the best breaks in the local area. Surf lessons and group bookings can be arranged on request.
