Pine Crest Resort, Kandy

Perched along the slopes of the Gurukele mountain range, Pine Crest Resort commands sweeping views over the surrounding mountains and the bustle of Kandy town, which lies sixteen kilometres away. The setting makes it a compelling base from which to appreciate the grandeur of this ancient city — the last Sri Lankan kingdom to fall to invading colonizers.

Kandy is world renowned for its annual Perehare, an extraordinary pageant of elephants, dancers, and drummers dressed with glamour and splendour, parading the casket that covers the sacred tooth relic of the Buddha. From the heights of Pine Crest Resort, the significance of this storied city feels both immediate and profound. The location is breathtaking, and its connectivity makes it equally well suited to the working traveller seeking a balance between mind and body, work and play.

Getting There

The resort is reached by driving from the Peradeniya roundabout, opposite the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens, along Galaha Road for 15.5 kilometres — kilometre signposts mark the way. After passing through the small town of Nillambe, continue on the same road towards Galaha for approximately 500 metres; the Pine Crest Resort name board appears on the left-hand side. From that point, directional markers on the light posts — labelled either PCR or PC — guide visitors up to the resort at the top of the mountain.

Accommodation and Atmosphere

Pine Crest Resort offers semi-luxurious accommodation with scenic views and tranquil surroundings. Days begin to the sound of birdsong and, on many mornings, a warm mist rolling away from the mountain range — a gentle reminder of how removed this retreat feels from the everyday, even as Kandy remains well within reach.
