Getting There

Kingdom Resort is reachable by several means of transport. The government bus on the Colombo–Matara line serves the area, as do private taxis by car or bus. Travellers taking the Colombo–Matara train can disembark at Matara and continue by taxi or local bus on the Matara–Dikwella line, alighting at the Kottagoda stop at kilometre 175. Intercity buses — private vehicles carrying around 20 passengers, with guaranteed seating and air conditioning — are another comfortable option.

Rooms and Facilities

The rooms are nicely furnished and each comes with a private bathroom and a terrace overlooking the seafront. Standard amenities in every room include a bathroom with shower, hot water, ceiling fans, a safe and a mosquito net. Linen in the room is changed once a week, while bathroom linen is refreshed three times a week. Some rooms are equipped with air conditioning; guests are advised to specify this preference when booking.

An on-site restaurant serves a good selection of local dishes alongside Italian cuisine, catering to a range of tastes without straying far from either tradition.
