Cinnamon Lodge, Habarana — Eco Luxury in the Dry Zone

Cinnamon Lodge is a chalet-styled, eco-friendly hotel spread across 27 acres of wooded gardens amid the evergreen forest of Sri Lanka's North Central Dry Plains. Landscaped to blend seamlessly with its natural surroundings, the property embodies eco-conscious hospitality at its most considered — and guests are said to quickly understand why this stretch of the so-called Dry Zone feels anything but arid.

The gardens are sheltered by tall trees and alive with wildlife: monkeys, water monitors, birds, butterflies and squirrels move freely through the grounds. The hotel sits in Habarana, 173 km north-east of Colombo, a town widely used as a base for exploring the key attractions of Sri Lanka's Cultural Triangle.

Accommodation

Rooms and suites are designed with luxury in the wilderness in mind, drawing on the concepts of eco-conservation while ensuring comfort throughout. All accommodation features traditional interiors in earthy colours, with timber and rattan furniture, and a private veranda with easy chairs and a coffee table.

Deluxe Rooms

Forty spacious Deluxe Rooms have been recently upgraded and refurbished. Terracotta and timber floors set the tone, complemented by elevated beds and a sun lounge furnished with a DVD player with inbuilt radio. The stylish bathroom features a bathtub and a separate shower area. A private butler and in-room spa treatments can be arranged on request.

Superior Rooms

Sixty-eight Superior Rooms overlook the tropical greenery of the lodge grounds. Each consists of a bedroom with a living area and a bathroom with a large shower area.

Suites

Cinnamon Lodge offers four self-contained suites named Ebony, Ivy, Cedar and Satin. Each suite spans the ground floor and first floor of its chalet, with an exquisite master bedroom upstairs, a second bedroom downstairs, and a lounge and dining area. All four enjoy views of the wooded gardens and Habarana Lake. Furnished with rare local crafts and custom-made furniture, the suites feature a Jacuzzi, double sink, spacious dressing area, flat-screen TV, espresso machine, and a DVD/VCD player with inbuilt radio. Round-the-clock private butler service, in-room spa treatments and in-villa dining are available on request.
