Patio, Biyagama, Sri Lanka
Patio in Biyagama captures the meeting point of two very different worlds. On one side lies the modern townscape of a cosmopolitan settlement bordering greater Colombo; on the other, a sweeping sea of lush paddy fields that has remained largely unchanged for centuries. The property epitomises classic Sri Lankan architecture entwined with contemporary luxuries, offering a genuine oasis of calm and serenity.
Biyagama itself sits at the gateway between the capital city Colombo and the rest of Sri Lanka. The city is approximately 20 minutes away, making the full range of a 21st-century lifestyle easily accessible, while the surrounding village environment invites guests to leave the hustle and bustle well behind.
Accommodation
Patio is an architectural residence featuring three fully furnished bedrooms and two bathrooms, including an en-suite. The master bedroom is distinguished by its large panoramic outlook, offering views across three different sides of the garden — the swimming pool, the lush garden, and the paddy fields beyond, all visible from bed. Every bedroom brings the outdoors in through picturesque garden views, while a considered choice of accent colours and varied fabric textures in the linen creates a balance between soft furnishing and the clean lines of the space.
Facilities
The main dining area seats eight people comfortably. Diners overlook the swimming pool and the garden as it extends out into the paddy fields, with the living and dining spaces designed to flow naturally into one another. The outdoor veranda creates a vista through an infinity-edge pool that visually merges with the paddy fields, producing a natural blend of greens and blues. A separate infinity pool also overlooks the fields, with a deck area well suited to spending afternoons watching the sun go down. A therapist is available on call to provide treatment for arriving guests.
Nearby Attractions
Staying at Patio places guests within reach of some of Sri Lanka's most significant cultural and natural landmarks. The Sri Lankan Parliament is situated very close to Biyagama, and the pleasures of Colombo are only around 30 minutes away. The Kelani River, one of Sri Lanka's largest waterways, flows just minutes from the property, as does the majestic Kelani Temple — making Patio a convenient base for exploring both the heritage of the region and the vitality of the capital.
