Question 1

How many rooms does Veligandu Island Resort have?

Accepted Answer

Veligandu Island Resort is a small, intimate property with a limited number of villas and bungalows spread across the island. The exact room count places it in the boutique category for Maldivian resorts, meaning the island rarely feels crowded. Booking in advance is advisable, particularly during the dry-season peak from December to April.

Question 2

Does Veligandu Island Resort have overwater bungalows?

Accepted Answer

Yes, overwater bungalows are available at Veligandu, including standard Water Bungalows, Sunset Water Bungalows, and Jacuzzi Water Bungalows. Each category sits on a jetty extending over the lagoon and includes a private deck with direct water access. The Sunset category faces west for evening views across the Indian Ocean.

Question 3

Can you snorkel directly from the beach at Veligandu?

Accepted Answer

Veligandu has a healthy house reef that is accessible directly from the beach without needing a boat. This makes it particularly convenient for snorkellers who want to explore coral at their own pace. The resort's dive centre can advise on the best entry points and current conditions on any given day.

Question 4

Are seaplane transfers included in the room rate at Veligandu?

Accepted Answer

Seaplane transfers are generally not included in the base room rate and are booked separately. They are typically arranged through the resort at the time of booking or via your travel agent. Because seaplanes operate only in daylight, coordinating your international flight arrival with the transfer schedule is important.

Question 5

What meal plans are available at Veligandu Island Resort?

Accepted Answer

The resort typically offers bed and breakfast, half-board, and full-board options. Half-board and full-board plans include meals at the main buffet restaurant. Given that there are no external dining alternatives on the island, choosing a meal plan that covers most of your meals at the time of booking is generally the most practical approach.

Question 6

Is Veligandu a good resort for diving?

Accepted Answer

North Ari Atoll, where Veligandu is located, is widely regarded as one of the Maldives' better diving areas, with accessible dive sites and regular sightings of manta rays and whale sharks depending on the season. The resort has an on-site dive centre that offers guided dives to local sites. The accessible house reef also suits less experienced divers and snorkellers.

Question 7

What is the difference between Beach Bungalows and Water Bungalows at Veligandu?

Accepted Answer

Beach Bungalows are set along the shoreline within the island's vegetation, offering direct beach access and a more grounded, garden-facing atmosphere. Water Bungalows are built over the lagoon on jetties, with private decks and steps leading directly into the sea. Water Bungalows typically command a higher nightly rate and are a popular choice for couples seeking the classic overwater Maldives experience.

Question 8

What is the cancellation policy at Veligandu Island Resort?

Accepted Answer

Cancellation policies at Veligandu Island Resort vary depending on the room category, meal plan, and booking channel. Peak-season bookings and promotional rates often carry stricter terms. It is important to review the specific policy at the time of reservation and consider travel insurance that covers accommodation cancellations for Maldivian trips.
