Anjayu Villa, known in full as Anjayu Villa - The House of Ayurveda, is a small Ayurveda retreat on the beach at Wadduwa, built with natural materials for guests who come mainly for Ayurvedic treatment. Days here revolve around consultations, therapies, vegetarian meals and the pool, with the sound of the sea close by rather than a busy holiday programme.
The villa stands on Samanthara Road in Wadduwa, directly on the beach on the south-west coast of Sri Lanka. Wadduwa railway station, on the coastal line between Colombo and Galle, is only about 0.3 km away, and Pinwatte station is about 3 km to the north. Bandaranaike International Airport is about 57 km away as the crow flies.
Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) is about 75 km from the villa by road, and the drive around Colombo and down the coast usually takes 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on traffic. The easiest way to arrive after a long flight is a private airport transfer booked in advance with Lakpura: an English-speaking driver meets you in the arrivals hall and takes you straight to the villa in an air-conditioned car, van or coach sized for your group, from 2 up to 15 guests, at a fixed price for the whole vehicle rather than per seat. The villa lists Deluxe Double Rooms with a sea view, Family Double Rooms for up to three guests and Single Bed Rooms for guests travelling alone. Rooms are air-conditioned, with mosquito nets and an en-suite bathroom, and each has a private terrace or balcony. They are simply furnished: the stay is built around the treatment rooms and the beach rather than the room itself.
Stays begin with a consultation with the villa's Ayurveda doctors, who plan each guest's programme. Treatments include Abhyanga oil massage, Shirodhara, Udvartana, Pinda Sweda, nasya and steam therapy, and longer Panchakarma programmes are available. Yoga sessions are also offered alongside the treatments.
The restaurant serves vegetarian Ayurvedic cuisine, prepared to suit each guest's body type and treatment plan. Outside there is a 20-metre pool, the garden and the beach itself, and the villa has free Wi-Fi and on-site parking. For a change of scene, Colombo is close enough for a day trip, and Lakpura can arrange private transfers and tours along the coast from the villa.
