Wild Grass Nature Resort is a luxurious jungle hideaway nestled within a wooded landscape of 30 acres near Sigiriya. The resort gardens are vibrant with wildlife: deer, wild rabbits, peacock and some 40 varieties of bird move freely through the grounds, and visits from wild elephants and wild boars are not uncommon. Frogs, insects and birdsong fill the air everywhere — including at the open-sky bathrooms, where the boundary between interior and nature dissolves entirely. A rock close to the resort entrance is scalable for guests in the mood for a little soft adventure.

Setting and Location

Wild Grass Nature Resort sits 175 km from Colombo, in the scenic village of Kumbukkadanwala, close to the Dunnubindunu Wewa reservoir, near Lenawa Junction off the Govigammana Main Road. The combination of utter silence, absolute stillness of the jungle and a strong sense of privacy is what defines the atmosphere here — wilderness with luxury rather than wilderness instead of it.

Accommodation

The resort's villas are built mainly of stone and wood, spaced approximately 50 feet apart to ensure complete privacy. Timber roofs, polished cement floors and glass sliding doors and windows bring together contemporary and traditional architecture. The large sliding glass doors open onto panoramic views of dense forest, giving guests a tangible sense of being at one with nature.

One-Bedroom Villas

Three spacious one-bedroom villas each measure 1,800 sq ft. A living and dining room occupies the ground floor, while an air-conditioned bedroom and ensuite bathroom are positioned on the upper floor. These villas are designed to accommodate up to three guests.

Family Villas

Two family villas, each measuring 2,600 sq ft, feature a luxurious master suite and an additional double bedroom, accommodating up to four guests — a family or a group of friends. Each bedroom has cable TV and an ensuite bathroom with an open-air hot and cold water shower.

In-Villa Facilities and Butler Service

Every villa comes with dedicated butler service, available at all times to manage check-in, attend to comfort, fulfil personal requests and handle laundry. Interiors are equipped with a flat-screen TV with satellite channels, tea and coffee facilities, wireless internet, an IDD telephone, a minibar, reading material, and board and card games. Each villa also features a living room with a comfortable sofa that doubles as a day bed, a dining room with a six-seater table, an open-air terrace, and a private bathroom enclosed by a high stone wall under an open sky — a detail that turns a simple shower into a moment of nature-watching.

Dining and Organic Farming

Wild Grass Nature Resort has adopted traditional organic farming methods to grow fruit and vegetables in its own gardens, supplying the kitchen with garden-fresh produce. Additional vegetable supplies are sourced from the villages surrounding the resort, keeping the connection to the local community and land very much alive.
