Elnara Resort sits amid lush greenery in the foothills of a forest reserve, on the banks of the Kalu River near Ratnapura. Newly established at the time of filming, it was conceived as a budget hotel that places guests close to nature, with flora, fauna and a number of attractions all within a short distance of the property.

The resort carries the feel of a mini botanical garden — many species of important trees and plants grow across the grounds, and bird watching is possible right within the garden itself. Every room balcony opens onto this greenery, with views stretching across the river, the forest reserve and the surrounding mountain range.

Accommodation

The resort offers 6 rooms in total, designed to be spacious and well-furnished for a comfortable stay. Two of the double rooms are air-conditioned and fitted with a television and mini fridge, while the remaining four are standard double rooms without air conditioning. All rooms are equipped with well-maintained bathrooms and queen-sized beds.

Facilities and Dining

The grounds include a large garden with spaces for gatherings, a children's play area and ample parking. The restaurant serves a broad selection of western, eastern and Sri Lankan menus, with buffet service and takeaway of food and soft drinks also available. For a more informal experience, barbecue meals can be arranged in the spacious garden adjoining the river.

The resort also offers banquet facilities for small groups, making use of both the hotel interior and the garden beneath the shade of large trees. The space is suited to conferences, company day outings, birthday parties and homecoming celebrations.

Excursions from the Resort

Guests can take advantage of a range of optional tours arranged by the resort. These include guided or unguided trips to Adam's Peak via Palabaddala, a day tour to the Sinharaja Rain Forest, and wildlife safaris to Udawalawe National Park. Jungle trekking, fishing and camping can also be organised. A day trip to Mapalana Waterfall — described as the highest waterfall in the Sabaragamuwa Province — along with visits to other nearby waterfalls, rounds out the excursion offerings.
