About this experience
Board your air-conditioned vehicle in Talpe for a private, 7.5-hour day trip along the south-west coast. Your English-speaking chauffeur guide leads you first to the Lunuganga estate — the idiosyncratic country retreat designed and inhabited by architect Sir Geoffrey Bawa — where terraced gardens and lakeside pavilions tell the story of his singular vision. Note that entrance tickets for Lunuganga are not included in the tour price.
From there you continue to Balapitiya, where you board a boat for a safari along the Madu River. Watch for water birds, mangrove channels, and river island temples as you glide through one of Sri Lanka's most serene wetland networks. A bottle of water per person is provided, and hotel pickup and drop-off in Talpe are included throughout. Minimum age for this tour is 5 years.
