Vrishabha and Kumbha Porondam

Imagem gerada por IA · não é uma fotografia real

This page explains how Vrishabha (Taurus) and Kumbha (Aquarius) compare in Sri Lankan marriage matching, in both Sinhala porondam and Tamil porutham. Here, rashi means the moon sign (chandra rashi) in the sidereal zodiac used in Sri Lanka, not the sun sign printed in newspaper horoscopes. The rashi-level picture is only a starting point, because the two birth stars shape the final result.

What does the rashi count show for Vrishabha and Kumbha?

The rashi count is taken from the bride's sign to the groom's, so the result depends on who holds which sign.

When the bride is Vrishabha and the groom is Kumbha, the count is 10. The rashi item is obtained in both Sinhala porondam and Tamil porutham.

When the bride is Kumbha and the groom is Vrishabha, the count is 4. In the Sinhala system the rashi item is partly obtained, while in the Tamil system rasi porutham is not obtained.

This difference is normal in matching, and it is one reason the same two signs can give different overall pictures depending on the direction.

Are Venus and Saturn friendly rashi lords?

Each rashi has a ruling planet. Vrishabha is ruled by Venus and Kumbha by Saturn. In the calculator's reckoning these two planets are mutual friends.

Because of this friendship, the rashi lord item is obtained in every case for this pair: rashyadhipathi in Sinhala porondam and rasi adhipathi in Tamil porutham, whether the bride is Vrishabha and the groom Kumbha, or the other way round.

Many families regard a friendly relationship between the two rashi lords as a pleasing sign of harmony in temperament, and here it holds steady in both directions and both traditions.

How does vashya work out for this pair?

Vashya looks at a traditional sense of natural attraction or affinity between two signs. For Vrishabha and Kumbha, vashya is not obtained in either direction, in both the Sinhala and Tamil systems.

It helps to keep this in proportion. Vashya is a single item within a much larger set of checks, and no experienced astrologer reads it on its own. Its weight is always considered together with the other rashi items and, above all, with the results drawn from the two birth stars.

For this pair, the friendly rashi lords and the rashi count in the Vrishabha-bride direction sit alongside it in the overall picture.

Why do the birth stars decide the real match?

Each rashi holds nine nakshatra quarters, so one pair of signs gives 81 star-quarter combinations, and outcomes vary widely among them.

With a Vrishabha bride and Kumbha groom, 30% of combinations reach 8 of 10 porutham, 5% are weak in the Tamil system, 5% have a Tamil rajju clash, and 75% pass Sinhala porondam (excluding the weekday item).

With a Kumbha bride and Vrishabha groom, none reach 8 of 10 porutham, 16% are weak in the Tamil system, 5% have a rajju clash, and 64% pass Sinhala porondam (excluding weekday).
