Dhanu and Dhanu Porondam

When both partners share the Dhanu (Sagittarius) rashi, the rashi-level results are the same whichever way you read the pair. This page explains what the calculator finds at the rashi level and why the two birth stars matter far more in the end.

What does a Dhanu and Dhanu match mean?

In Sri Lankan marriage matching, the rashi is the moon sign (chandra rashi) in the sidereal zodiac, not the sun sign printed in newspaper horoscopes. Here, both the bride and the groom have the Moon in Dhanu.

Because the signs are identical, the two directions give the same answer: a Dhanu bride with a Dhanu groom, and the reverse, produce exactly the same rashi-level results. Counting from the bride's rashi to the groom's gives a rashi count of 1, meaning they fall in the same sign. The calculator checks this in both the Sinhala porondam and Tamil porutham systems, and the results below apply equally to both directions.

Which rashi-level items are obtained?

For this pairing, the rashi item is obtained in both systems: the Sinhala rashi porondam and the Tamil rasi porutham each come out favourably for a rashi count of 1.

The rashi lord check (rashyadhipathi in Sinhala, rasi adhipathi in Tamil) is also obtained. Dhanu is ruled by Jupiter, so both partners share the very same ruling planet. Rather than asking whether two different lords are friendly, the calculator here finds one planet governing both moon signs, and it marks the item as obtained in both traditions.

How does vashya work for Dhanu with Dhanu?

Vashya (vasya in Tamil) looks at whether one rashi is traditionally considered drawn towards, or responsive to, the other. For two people of the same Dhanu rashi, the calculator marks vashya as not obtained, in both the Sinhala and Tamil systems and in both directions.

It helps to keep this in perspective. Vashya is only one item among many, and matching is never decided by a single check. Two rashi-level items are already obtained for this pair, and the most important parts of the assessment come from the birth stars rather than the moon sign alone. Families usually look at the whole picture before forming any view.

Why do the birth stars decide the real match?

The rashi tells only part of the story. The real match depends on each partner's birth star (nakshatra) and its quarter. Within Dhanu and Dhanu there are 81 possible star-quarter combinations, and their outcomes vary widely.

Across those combinations, about 5% reach 8 out of 10 Tamil porutham, while around 46% come out weak under the Tamil system and about 41% show a rajju clash. On the Sinhala side, roughly 60% pass porondam when the weekday item is left aside. Two Dhanu couples can therefore receive very different results. Use the calculator with full birth details, and consult a family astrologer for any marriage decision.
