About this experience
Climb into an air-conditioned vehicle in Colombo and travel roughly 180 km south to Udawalawe National Park — Sri Lanka's sixth-largest wildlife sanctuary. Your English-speaking chauffeur guide handles the drive, leaving you free to watch the landscape shift from city outskirts to open plains. On arrival, transfer to a safari jeep and spend three hours tracking the park's resident elephant herds as they roam the grasslands around the Udawalawe reservoir. Keep your eyes open for water buffalo, crocodiles, and the park's rich birdlife — endemic and migratory species alike reward patient watchers. A water bottle is provided for each guest.
This private, full-day excursion runs for 11 hours in total, with hotel pickup and drop-off included. The tour is conducted in English and is open to travellers aged 7 and above. Note that national park entrance tickets, meals, and gratuities are not included and are payable separately. Lakpura organises the logistics so you focus on the wildlife.
