The title translates roughly as "Sinhala poetry", and the book belongs to the body of Sinhala writing on the island's own literary tradition — the sort of volume that circulates among students, teachers and general readers with an interest in verse in their own language.
The text is in Sinhala throughout, so a reading knowledge of the script is needed. That makes it most useful to readers in Sri Lanka, to Sinhala speakers abroad who want to keep reading in the language, and to libraries and university departments building a collection of Sinhala-language material that is otherwise difficult to obtain outside the island.
