Mlesna Jasmine Green Tea is a loose leaf Ceylon tea built on a base of Flowery Broken Orange Pekoe — a grade characterised by well-twisted, delicate broken leaf with fine tips — processed with jasmine extracts to produce a cup that is fragrant, clean, and distinctly its own. The 200-gram pack contains enough leaf for a generous number of brews, supplied in loose form so the jasmine character can unfold fully in the pot.
The tea is made by Mlesna (Ceylon) Ltd, one of Sri Lanka's most established tea exporters, operating out of Colombo under the tagline 'Naturally the Best'. The company exports to more than fifty countries, and its packaging has been recognised at national, regional, and international level over many decades. The ingredient list is straightforward: tea and natural flavours, as stated on the pack in both English and French — the bilingual labelling reflecting the product's export-market design.
Broken Orange Pekoe grades infuse quickly and give a brew with more body than fine-leaf grades, while the jasmine extract weaves through that structure to soften the overall impression. The result works equally well served hot in a warmed pot or cooled over ice for a chilled drink.
To brew, use one teaspoon of leaf per cup. Pour freshly boiling water into the teapot and allow the tea to steep to your own taste, up to a maximum of three minutes.
