About this experience
Step out of your Nuwara Eliya hotel and into Sri Lanka's highest plateau — a sweeping landscape of wild grasslands, dense cloud-forest patches, rocky outcrops, and misty lakes. Your English-speaking guide meets you at pickup, and the entrance ticket to Horton Plains National Park is already sorted. Over five hours you trek the park's signature trail, pausing at filigree waterfalls and scanning the mist for sambar deer and endemic birds. A litre of bottled mineral water is provided to keep you going in the cool, wind-swept air.
This is a private hike, so the pace and stops are yours to set — no crowded group to follow. Minimum age is 10, making it a solid choice for families with older children. Food and personal expenses are not included, so carry snacks if you prefer. Lakpura handles hotel drop-off once the hike concludes, leaving you free to simply enjoy one of Sri Lanka's most dramatic high-altitude landscapes.
