The Basilur Specialty Classics Tea Book is a tin caddy shaped like a hardback book — one of Basilur's signature formats — containing 32 individually foil-wrapped tea bags across four distinct varieties: English Breakfast, Darjeeling, Sencha Green, and Earl Grey. Eight bags of each variety sit inside the caddy, giving a proper run of tastings rather than a token sampler.
Three of the four varieties — English Breakfast, Sencha Green, and Earl Grey — are made from 100% pure Ceylon tea grown and packed in Sri Lanka, each carrying the Ceylon Tea Lion Logo, the Sri Lanka Tea Board's certification of origin and quality. The English Breakfast is a pure Ceylon black tea; the Sencha is a pure Ceylon green tea; and the Earl Grey is a pure Ceylon black tea scented with bergamot. The Darjeeling, by contrast, is sourced from India — its packaging states 'Imported Tea Packed in Sri Lanka' — so this is a genuinely mixed-origin collection rather than an all-Ceylon one, and worth knowing before you buy.
Each of the 32 bags is sealed in its own foil envelope, which keeps the tea away from light, moisture and competing aromas until the moment you open it. The tin caddy itself is reusable once the tea is gone — the book shape and decorative exterior make it a practical container for loose tea, small items or simply a shelf ornament.
All four varieties are produced and packed by Basilur Tea Export (Pvt) Ltd in Angoda, Sri Lanka. The caddy holds 60 g net weight in total. It travels well and presents tidily, which is why it is a frequent choice as a gift — the format reads as considered rather than generic, and the four varieties cover enough ground that the recipient is unlikely to have a strong objection to all of them.
