Gold Green Tea from Akbar is a loose leaf green tea in a large 275g tin. The leaves are made by the green tea process, which skips oxidation, so they keep their fresh, vegetal character and brew a pale golden cup.
Akbar describes the taste as light and smooth with a mild grassy note, soft floral hints and a clean finish. Because the leaf is loose, it has room to open fully in the pot, and you can adjust the strength by changing the amount of leaf or the steeping time. The tin keeps light and moisture out and is easy to reseal.

How to brew
- One level teaspoon per cup
- Water at 75-80°C; do not pour on boiling water, which turns green tea bitter
- Steep for 2-3 minutes, then strain
Serving ideas
Best without milk. Drink it plain, or add a squeeze of fresh lemon to sharpen the flavour. It also makes good iced tea when brewed slightly stronger and chilled.
