Marsilea quadrifolia

Marsilea quadrifolia, commonly known as water clover or four-leaf clover fern, is one of the more visually distinctive aquatic ferns found across a wide geographic range — from central and southern Europe through the Caucasus, western Siberia, Afghanistan, south-west India, China, Japan, and Vietnam. In North America it is considered a naturalised weed, particularly in the northeast United States, where it has been established for well over a century. In Tamil-speaking communities it is known as aalaik keerai, while in India it is widely called sushni.

Marsilea is a fern, reproducing through spores and lacking flowers entirely. The leaf similarity is a case of convergent form rather than shared ancestry.
