Strap on your safety helmet, clip up your life jacket, and step into one of Sri Lanka's most secretive underground passages near Ella. From the cave entrance, you descend roughly an hour through the darkness — headlamp lighting the way — until the tunnel opens onto the Blue Water Pond, a remarkably clear subterranean pool fed by a hidden outflow that keeps both the water and air surprisingly fresh. Local folklore ties this cave to the legend of King Ravana, adding a layer of myth to every step down.
This private, four-hour tour is guided throughout by an English-speaking guide who leads a comprehensive safety briefing before you enter. Safety helmets, life jackets, a headlamp, a first-aid kit, and drinking water and refreshments are all provided. Minimum age is 10. Hotel pick-up, drop-off, and gratuities are not included.
