South Beach Villa@69 is a small beachfront hotel of 12 rooms at Maha Induruwa, on the south-west coast between Bentota and Kosgoda. It is a simple, friendly place rather than a resort: rooms face the sea, there is a garden and an outdoor pool between the building and the beach, and breakfast is served in the garden.
The hotel stands at No 16, Galle Road, Maha Induruwa, directly on the beach, a few steps from the sand. Maha Induruwa railway station is about 200 metres away, Induruwa town is under 2 km to the north and Kosgoda about 3 km to the south, with Bentota a short drive further north along the coast.
Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) is about 115 km from Induruwa by road, and the drive usually takes around 2 hours on the airport and Southern expressways, depending on traffic around Colombo. The simplest way to arrive after a long flight is a private airport transfer booked in advance with Lakpura: an English-speaking driver meets you in the arrivals hall and takes you straight to the hotel in an air-conditioned car, van or coach sized for your group, from 2 up to 15 guests, at a fixed price for the whole vehicle rather than per seat. The same service works in reverse for your departure flight. Book the Colombo (CMB) Airport transfer to South Beach Villa@69.
The 12 rooms are air-conditioned, each with a private bathroom and a balcony or terrace, and the sea-view rooms look out over the Indian Ocean. Room categories include the Standard Queen Room, the Queen Room with Sea View and the Deluxe Twin Room with Sea View. Rooms have a flat-screen TV, a kettle for tea and coffee, toiletries and a wardrobe.
The hotel has its own restaurant. Breakfast offers continental and Asian options, and guests often take it in the garden. Beyond the beach itself there is an outdoor swimming pool, a garden, a shared lounge, free parking, bicycle hire and a concierge service that can help with tours, laundry and luggage storage.
Induruwa sits on a long, quiet stretch of beach, and the turtle hatcheries of Kosgoda are just to the south. Bentota, a short drive north, is the place for water sports and boat trips through the mangroves of the Bentota River, and Lunuganga, Geoffrey Bawa's country estate, is about 4 km away. Further south lie the Madu River, the mask makers of Ambalangoda and Galle Fort, an easy day trip. Lakpura can arrange private transfers and day tours from the hotel.
