About this experience

Drive north from Colombo in a private vehicle with your English-speaking chauffeur guide as this two-day tour combines the ancient streets of Anuradhapura with a jeep safari in Wilpattu National Park. In Anuradhapura — a UNESCO World Heritage Site — you walk among towering dagobas, sacred Bodhi trees, and royal pleasure gardens that trace Sri Lanka's civilisation back over two thousand years. Complimentary water bottles are provided each day, and all highway tolls, parking, and fuel are covered throughout.

On the wildlife leg, Wilpattu — Sri Lanka's largest national park — spreads across a mosaic of dense jungle and natural lakes known as villus. Leopards are the headline act, and Wilpattu holds the highest concentration of them in the country; sloth bears, spotted deer, and water buffalo share the same terrain. The tour is fully private, so the pace and focus stay entirely with you. Accommodation, meals, entrance fees, and visa costs are arranged separately.

Yapahuwa Rock Fortress

Yapahuwa was the capital of Sri Lanka right after Dambadeniya when the Dravidians invaded. The fortress was built on a giant rock in the style of the Sigiriya rock fortress. However, the architecture of this fortress is completely different from Sigiriya with wide staircases, beautiful stone sculptures and highly detailed carvings on pillars.
