About this experience

Board a 4x4 safari jeep with your experienced driver-tracker and head into Udawalawe National Park, located 180 km south-east of Colombo and home to one of Sri Lanka's largest wild elephant populations. Over four hours, you scan the reservoir margins and open grasslands for herds, water buffalo, crocodiles, and resident birdlife — your tracker narrating every sighting from the seat beside you. The jeep carries a maximum of six passengers, keeping the experience private and unhurried. A bottle of mineral water per person is included, and entrance fees are covered when you book the jeep-with-tickets option.

Before or after the game drive, the itinerary takes you to the Elephant Transit Home, a sanctuary that rehabilitates orphaned elephant calves before releasing them back into the park. You watch the feeding routine up close and learn how each calf's release is managed. Free pickup and drop-off is provided within 5 km of the park gate. Children aged five and above are welcome, and all taxes and service charges are included in the price.
