About this experience
Start with a safety and primate briefing before setting off on a guided walk through Polonnaruwa's UNESCO-listed research site. Your English-speaking naturalist leads you through the ancient ruins and forest, pointing out the Grey langur — known as the Hanuman monkey — and its constant companion, the Toque macaque. Over three hours, you learn how these two species interact, forage, and share territory across one of Sri Lanka's most historically significant landscapes. A water bottle is provided per person.
This is a private tour, so the pace and attention are entirely yours. Note that hotel pick-up and drop-off, entrance tickets, meals, and gratuities are not included, so arrange transport to the site in advance. Minimum age is 7. Lakpura organises the naturalist and all on-site guidance, leaving you free to focus on the monkeys.
