Accepted Answer

The East Coast's dry season runs roughly from May to September, making this the most reliable period for beach activities at Kalkudah and Pasikuda. Question 6

Do I need to book train tickets to Kalkudah in advance?

Accepted Answer

Tickets can be booked through Sri Lanka Railways' online platform or in person at Colombo Fort Station. Unreserved carriages are also available but can become crowded on busy services.

Question 7

What can I do near Kalkudah Station?

Accepted Answer

The station is the gateway to Kalkudah and Pasikuda beaches, which are known for calm, shallow water ideal for swimming. Batticaloa, around 35 km south, offers the Dutch fort and lagoon boat trips. Heading south along the coast eventually brings you to Arugam Bay and Kumana National Park for surfing and wildlife watching.
