A retelling of the life of the Buddha for young children, prepared by Sriya Ratnakara and published in Colombo by M. D. Gunasena & Co. The account is set out in simple language chosen to suit a small child's understanding, following the story of the Buddha's life as a narrative rather than as doctrine.
The book is written entirely in Sinhala. There is no English text, so a reader will need Sinhala to use it — something worth knowing before ordering from outside Sri Lanka. Within Sinhala-speaking households abroad, books of this kind are often used by parents and grandparents reading aloud to children, or by children beginning to read on their own.
It will suit families who want their children to meet the Buddha's life story in Sinhala, and readers building a small shelf of Sinhala-language children's books for the home.
