A picture book for young children, written and illustrated by Sybil Wettasinghe, one of a series she produced in large letter type. The large letter format is intended for children at the stage of recognising words on the page for themselves, or for being read aloud to while they follow along.
Wettasinghe was a veteran illustrator and children's book author in Sri Lanka, and her work in both words and pictures is familiar to generations of readers who grew up with her books. This one is in English and comes from M. D. Gunasena & Co., a Sri Lankan publishing house.
It suits a home or classroom shelf where early readers are being built up gradually, and it is an easy thing to send to a child abroad who is being introduced to Sri Lankan writing and illustration.
