This is a set of model question papers in Sinhala, compiled for pupils in the third grade who are working towards the scholarship examination. The text, the questions and the answers are all in Sinhala, with no English content, so it suits a household where a child is studying in the Sinhala medium.
It belongs to the Gunasena Shishyathwa Thaksalawa educational project, which issues its third-grade papers in three sets: Peacock, Falcon and Eagle. Falcon sits between the other two, intended to be worked through after Peacock and before a pupil moves on to Eagle. Each set stands as its own booklet, so the Falcon papers can be used on their own, though the publisher's intention is that a child progresses through the sequence.
Inside are model papers covering both parts of the examination format, together with their answers. A video programme discussing the papers has also been prepared, and it can be reached by scanning the QR code printed on the back cover.
The papers were compiled by Sajith Abeysekara and Kasun Ganewaththa, teachers with experience in primary education who completed their National Diploma in Teaching at the Hapitigama National College of Education in Meerigama. The book is published in Colombo by M. D. Gunasena & Co. (Pvt) Ltd, a Sinhala and English language publisher with a long presence in Sri Lankan school publishing.
For families abroad keeping a child on the Sri Lankan primary syllabus, this is straightforward practice material: papers to sit, answers to check against, and a parent or tutor who reads Sinhala to go over the results.
