Mithuna and Tula Porondam

AI loodud pilt · ei ole tegelik foto

This page explains how Mithuna (Gemini) and Tula (Libra) compare in Sri Lankan marriage matching, known as porondam in Sinhala and porutham in Tamil. It covers the rashi-level results in both directions and explains why the two birth stars matter most. Use it as a gentle starting point, not a final answer.

Which rashi is being matched here?

In Sri Lanka, the rashi used for marriage matching is the moon sign (chandra rashi), worked out in the sidereal zodiac. It is not the sun sign printed in newspaper horoscopes, so someone who reads as Gemini in a magazine may have a different moon sign.

Mithuna is ruled by Mercury and Tula by Venus. Counting from Mithuna to Tula gives 5, and counting back from Tula to Mithuna gives 9. Because the count is taken from the bride's sign to the groom's, the calculator treats the two directions separately, and the results differ. The sections below explain each direction using the calculator's own wording: obtained, partly obtained or not obtained.

What if the bride is Mithuna and the groom is Tula?

Here the count from the bride's rashi to the groom's is 5. In both the Sinhala and Tamil systems, the calculator marks the rashi item as not obtained for this count.

The rashi lords, Mercury and Venus, are mutual friends, so rashyadhipathi (Sinhala) and rasi adhipathi (Tamil) are obtained. Vashya, which looks at natural attraction between signs, is not obtained in either system.

Across all 81 star-quarter combinations for this direction, none reach 8 of 10 Tamil porutham, 43% fall into the weaker Tamil range, and 17% pass Sinhala porondam (excluding the weekday item). The outcome still depends heavily on the actual stars.

What if the bride is Tula and the groom is Mithuna?

In this direction the count from the bride's rashi to the groom's is 9, and the rashi item is obtained in both the Sinhala and Tamil systems.

Mercury and Venus remain mutual friends, so the rashi lord item is again obtained. Vashya is not obtained, as in the other direction.

The star-level picture is noticeably broader here. Of the 81 star-quarter combinations, 25% reach 8 of 10 Tamil porutham, 36% fall into the weaker Tamil range, and 58% pass Sinhala porondam (excluding the weekday item). Even so, these are spreads of possibilities, not a verdict for any particular couple.

Why do the birth stars decide the real match?

Rashi items are only a small part of porondam and porutham. Most of the checks, including rajju, depend on the two birth stars (nakshatra) and their quarters. Each rashi pairing covers 81 possible star-quarter combinations, and in both directions here rajju is not obtained in 36% of them, which shows how much the stars change the picture.

Two couples with the same moon signs can therefore receive very different results. For a meaningful reading, enter full birth details — date, exact time and place — into the Lakpura calculator.
