Exploring Nuwara Eliya

Nuwara Eliya is Sri Lanka's highest town, surrounded by endless tea plantations, beautiful waterfalls and high mountains. It is considered a top holiday destination in the country, particularly during the months of April and August, when special events ranging from sports car races to horse racing draw visitors from across the island.

Places of interest in the area include Victoria Park, the Nuwara Eliya Golf Course, Lake Gregory and the town's famous race course — the only venue in Sri Lanka to host the annual horse racing event. Lake Gregory also offers boat rides for those who prefer time on the water. Further afield, excursions can be made to Hakgala Botanical Gardens, Devon Falls, St. Clair Falls and the Horton Plains National Park, home to the dramatic "World's End Precipice."
