This is a practice paper set for the Scholarship Examination sat by primary school pupils in Sri Lanka, issued by M. D. Gunasena under its Gunasena Shishyathwa Thakshalawa series. The series previously appeared as General, Silver and Gold sets; Platinum is the newest addition to it.
The contents are examination papers rather than lessons: papers in the format of the first paper and papers in the format of the second paper, for a child to sit and answer in the run-up to the examination. It is intended to be worked through alongside the earlier sets in the series rather than instead of them, giving a pupil a longer run of timed practice.
The set was compiled by Sajith Abeysekara and Kasun Ganewaththa, teachers with experience in primary education.
The book is written entirely in Sinhala. Questions, instructions and answers are all in Sinhala, so it will only be of use to a child who reads and writes the language, or to a parent or tutor who can work through it with them. International buyers ordering for a Sinhala-speaking household — families abroad preparing a child for the examination, or supplementary schools teaching the Sri Lankan primary syllabus — are the readers it suits. There is no English edition of this material.
