This is the Sinhala chanting book widely known as the Piruwana Poth Wahanse, issued here with its pages laid out and printed to a larger size than earlier printings. The intention is practical: larger type and a more open page make the text easier to follow while chanting, for monks leading recitation and for lay readers alike.
The text is entirely in Sinhala. There is no English translation or transliteration, so a buyer outside Sri Lanka should be able to read Sinhala script, or be buying for someone who can.
Alongside the pirith itself, the book carries an appendix covering the preparation of pirith (pirith pe kirima), the sathara kamatahan, seth pirith, the Dorakada Asna, and anushasana.
Published by M. D. Gunasena & Co. of Colombo, a long-established Sri Lankan house publishing in Sinhala and English. The book suits households that keep a pirith potha for daily or occasional recitation, temples, and Sinhala-reading Buddhists abroad who want a copy in a format that is comfortable to use aloud rather than a pocket edition.
