A story told in the voice of its own heroine, Hesley Lavender Skyler, whose name she explains simply: a small girl with hazel brown eyes and the scent of lavender about her. Kanchana Piumali follows her from childhood, running about a remote and secluded mountain valley, through to young womanhood — brunette curls, cherry-rose colouring — and gathers the memories she holds from those years.
The book is written entirely in Sinhala. There is no English text, so it will suit readers who are comfortable reading a full-length Sinhala narrative, or families keeping Sinhala reading alive at home. Buyers outside Sri Lanka should order on that understanding.
The publisher is M. D. Gunasena & Co., a long-established Colombo house issuing books in Sinhala and English.
