About this experience
Depart from your Galle hotel in a private, air-conditioned vehicle as your English-speaking chauffeur drives you to Udawalawe National Park — roughly a 3-hour journey each way. On arrival, board a jeep for a dedicated 3-hour safari through the park's open plains and grasslands. Udawalawe is home to one of Sri Lanka's largest wild elephant populations, and the reservoir draws herds throughout the day. Keep your eyes open for water buffalo, crocodiles, and spotted deer, plus endemic and migratory birds overhead. A litre of bottled mineral water is provided to keep you refreshed on the trail.
The full day out runs approximately 8 hours door-to-door, and the tour is entirely private — just your group, your chauffeur, and the park. Hotel pick-up and drop-off are included. Entrance fees to the national park, meals, and gratuities are not included and are payable separately.
